About the event
Book Signing Laura Rutland Saturday, March 2 from 1-3 PM
A transplant from Georgia to Erie, PA, Laura Rutland was an Associate Professor of English at Gannon University until her retirement in 2022. She continues to teach part-time, while devoting more of her time to poetry. Her work has appeared in Poetry Breakfast, Autumn Sky Poetry Daily, Anglican Theological Review, and elsewhere. Her two great passions are poetry and music, and she is grateful to find communities for both in Erie.
Laura Rutland’s fantasy chapbook collection, A Dragon Woman’s Journey, includes nineteen poems and three short prose narratives. Together they tell the story of a woman who is also a dragon on a quest to figure out where she belongs. Rutland's poetic mastery weaves a tale of identity, transformation, and the unyielding spirit of those who navigate worlds unseen. With each verse, Rutland invites readers to embrace the extraordinary and dance through the skies alongside dragons, where the boundaries between self and the fantastical blur. Echoing the heartbeat of acceptance, 'A Dragon Woman's Journey' leaves you breathless, yearning, and utterly captivated.
